Roger Luxton OBE

Corporate Director of Children's Services and Deputy Chief Executive

Roger became Corporate Director of Children's Services and Deputy Chief Executive in February 2006. He was appointed as Principal Inspector when the authority was re-organised in 1990 and Director of Education, Arts and Libraries in September 2002.

The authority promotes improvement through an integrated cycle of inspection, advice, support and guidance. With the aid of a full complement of inspector and advisory teacher colleagues this cycle has been maintained through all the uncertainties and instabilities of the years since the Education Act 1992.

Roger was awarded the OBE in the June 1999 Birthday Honours List for Services to Education Standards.

The award recognised the rate of progress which has been made by schools in raising attainment over the past decade. Responsible for Inspection and Advisory Services to schools and providers of lifelong learning opportunities, and for the development of Arts, Heritage and Libraries.
