Guy leads on school ICT developments with the Children's Services department and the teams delivery of the Department for Children, Schools and Families e-strategy.
Guy manages the Primary ICT Advisory Team, and has overall responsibility for the IT Support Unit and Management Information Systems Team.
From 2003 to September 2006 he was the Lead Officer for the Department for Children, Schools and Families ICT Test Bed Project. In this role he has developed the use of management tools for accelerating change in schools.
In 2005 Guy set-up the Barking and Dagenham Personal Digital Assistant project that supports the development of learning trails for pupils and students.
Guy has overall responsibility for the Barking and Dagenham Learning Gateway project.
Guy has developed a substantial range of materials for teaching and learning including an ICT framework for nursery to year 6, minimum standards and a suite of assessment and monitoring tools.
Guy is the lead person for embedding technology through the Primary National Strategy and has worked at a national level on assessment exemplars for the forthcoming ICT progressions framework.
Through his work with the community UK Online Centres and the ICT Test Bed Project he has developed an approach to technology use in schools that is driven by functionality and an ability to help teachers and pupils enhance and extend educational practice.
The development of online teaching and learning resources is an area of responsibility for Guy. The local authority's nationally recognised work with Interactive Teaching Technologies has created a culture for innovation and talk based development.
Guy was a prolific contributor to the People for People published ICT Coordinators file and has produced multimedia learning resources for Key Stage 3 English.
