David joined Barking and Dagenham in 1999. He became Learning Gateway Manager in May 2007.
As Manager of the Learning Gateway, he is responsible for the overall editorial coherence and integrity of the portal with up to 150 sites.
As the use of the system is taken up by more schools will recruit and lead a small team of portal designers to work with schools on adopting effective content management arrangements, and in creating effective branding and portal design elements.
Previously, as Corporate Web Manager from 1999 to 2007, he developed the Barking and Dagenham Corporate website, intranet and Community Grid for Learning intranet.
In 2007 the corporate website was the first in the country to achieve excellent status in the annual 'Society of Information Technology Management (SOCITM) better connected' survey of Local Government websites.
This was closely followed by the Society of Public Information Networks (SPIN) SOCITM English website of the year 2007 award.
David received a Borough Recognition Award in June 2002 for his achievements in raising the borough's profile through our website and educational intranet.
A multimedia video work he designed and produced to accompany the 'Alive' exhibition of children's art was displayed at the Royal Academy of Art in London in 2000 and subsequently toured with the exhibition.
David joined the borough in 1999 and is originally from Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire in Scotland.
He is a B.A. (Hons) Fine Art Sculpture graduate (2:1) of the University of Dundee where he studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, his fine art practice combines electronic design and publishing with fine art techniques.
