Lee began his role as Neighbourhood Coordinator for Whalebone and Eastbrook ward on 16 July 2007.
Before taking up this post in Barking and Dagenham, he was a police officer in Newham for 4½ years, working in roles in CID and the response team as well as in the Safer Neighbourhood Team for over a year.
Lee has a lot of experience with dealing with residents, attending safer neighbourhood panels and working in the heart of the community, which will prove invaluable in his Neighbourhood Coordinator role.
Lee loved police work but wanted a more expansive role which would enable him to work with the local community, safer neighbourhood teams and other partners to bring about change.
Lee said:
"I was drawn to this role because I'm passionate about making neighbourhoods safer places for everyone to live and work in. It is important that people feel safe in their own environment and I will be working to reduce people's fear of crime."
"Neighbourhood Management is all about engaging residents. I want to get to know residents well, listen to them and hear what they are saying. Once I have built up the trust, I hope we can work together to improve the neighbourhoods."
