Corporate Finance

Welcome to the Corporate Finance Division home page.

The division has corporate responsibility for developing and maintaining our Financial Management arrangements in a lawful manner.

It is particularly concerned with the duty to secure and demonstrate best value in the provision of services to our local communities and to all external inspections of the way we manage our financial and other resources and our overall assessment under the Audit Commission Comprehensive Performance Assessment framework.

From April 2009, a new area-based assessment framework, the Comprehensive Area Assessment, is to replace the Comprehensive Performance Assessment framework but our duty to delivery best value with the resources at the Council's disposal will always guide our work.

Corporate Finance is led by the Divisional Director of Corporate Finance Joe Chesterton. He is the council's Chief Financial Officer under Section 151 of the Local Government Act 1972, with the specific responsibility for the lawful and proper financial administration of the council in consultation with the Chief Executive and the Monitoring Officer.

The lead portfolio member for the division is Councillor Graham Bramley.
