Spatial Regeneration

The main responsibilities of the Spatial Regeneration Division are:

We are responsible for managing and controlling development in our borough, mostly through the processing of planning applications.

Building Control|

We make sure that building works reach regulation standards. For your safety we also inspect buildings, issue licences and process building regulation applications.

Environmental Sustainability|

We are responsible for looking after the environment and ensuring a better quality of life for everyone.This involves addressing issues such as recycling, energy and water saving, renewable energy, and taking care of our green spaces and biodiversity.

Strategic Transport|

We are responsible for putting together a transport plan for the borough and promoting and getting key transport infrastructure that will benefit the borough.

Planning Policy|

We are responsible for promoting sustainable development, which is about strong economic growth and community development, while protecting and improving the borough's environment.

Urban Design|

We design buildings, groups of buildings, spaces and landscapes, in villages, towns and cities, within frameworks and processes which allow successful development.

Area Regeneration|

We have overall responsibility for the delivery of Spatial Regeneration projects across the borough.

Land and Property Information

Objectives:

To be the corporate centre for developing and implementing our strategies for property based information systems
To provide a central information resource for Borough addresses, and for our land and property holdings (land and property and terrier and deeds archive)
To coordinate property information issues across the council, including Ordnance Survey information, and to secure compatibility of all departmental systems with the corporate strategy
To explore and maximise income opportunities from land and property information
To provide an accurate, responsive and efficient Local Land Charges Services
To manage corporate sealing
