The main responsibilities of the Spatial Regeneration Division are:
We are responsible for managing and controlling development in our borough, mostly through the processing of planning applications.
We make sure that building works reach regulation standards. For your safety we also inspect buildings, issue licences and process building regulation applications.
We are responsible for looking after the environment and ensuring a better quality of life for everyone.This involves addressing issues such as recycling, energy and water saving, renewable energy, and taking care of our green spaces and biodiversity.
We are responsible for putting together a transport plan for the borough and promoting and getting key transport infrastructure that will benefit the borough.
We are responsible for promoting sustainable development, which is about strong economic growth and community development, while protecting and improving the borough's environment.
We design buildings, groups of buildings, spaces and landscapes, in villages, towns and cities, within frameworks and processes which allow successful development.
We have overall responsibility for the delivery of Spatial Regeneration projects across the borough.
