Castle Green

Learning, Discovery, Recreation

Castle Green, in Thames Ward, was conceived as a centre for the whole community, no matter what your age or interests. We have an early years facility for pre-school children and we are the location for Jo Richardson Community School, already a well known and respected name in the area.

We also boast a comprehensive library, Capel Manor college with facilities to teach a range of courses, and truly impressive theatre, entertainment, arts and conference spaces which will serve both residents and businesses throughout the borough and beyond.

Add to that a range of outstanding sports facilities and catering which will serve all the centre's needs, and you have a unique place which really does offer an unequalled combination of services where we can learn, discover and play. Please come and visit us very soon.

The name Castle Green goes back over 200 years and recalls a time when the whole area was completely rural. The original 'castle' which gave the place its name was in fact a castellated house built around 1800 which, amazingly, survived until 1938. Today, the name applies to the part of Thames Ward where our building now stands, as well as the estate which surrounds it.

We now hope that the name will become linked with a wide range of groups, clubs and associations from all over the borough. If you currently run a sporting, arts or other activity and would like to discuss how we can work together combining our facilities and your talents, please contact us.

A centre for the whole community.
