The new enlarged and improved library, offers a lending library, special services for teenagers and children as well as resources for learners, reference library and IT facilities throughout.
'My First Library' provides a dedicated library service for under 5s, with picture books and a range of toys to borrow or enjoy in the library.
The ground floor takes on the feel of a modern book shop and music store, allowing library users to browse the range of stock in an attractive setting.
Library users can also access the new self-service facility helping to avoid the queues, and borrow and renew books through a self service device. This new system also tells customers when their book is overdue or is waiting to be loaned out by another customer.
A wider range of non-fiction, fiction and reference books is also available with over 50,000 volumes in stock. This is complemented by a series of electronic journals and other online resources for learners. There will be up to 50 internet terminals which are free to use - as in all of the Borough's libraries.
