Student Services
How we can help you
Student Services can help before you start a course by:
- Arranging visits or taster sessions for you
- Working with an advocate on your behalf
- Providing discrete assistance
- Help you complete enrolment forms and other paperwork
Enrolment and Initial Advice and Guidance
At enrolment you complete a College Enrolment Form and Learning Agreement.
You will be given initial advice and guidance by frontline staff when you enrol. Course information sheets are available from reception, which outline the content, aims, learning outcomes and expectations of the course. Many courses offer individual pre-course interviews with a specialist tutor, who will be able to give further information, advice and guidance. If you enrol on health and fitness courses you will be asked to complete a health check questionnaire.
Initial Assessment
For courses at the College you take an initial assessment to make sure you are placed on the right course and that you receive appropriate support. On some courses initial assessment takes place before you enrol. At the beginning of your course, a Learner Profile will be completed buy you and the tutor together where you will discuss what you want to get out of your time at the College, so that your individual needs are met. During the course, an Individual Learning Plan or Student Record of Progress and Achievement will be completed so you and your tutor can track your progress.
Induction
During your first session, the tutor will go through the Student Induction with the class. This will tell you more about th course, inform you of College policies and give you a chance to ask any questions about your course.
