Meanwhile, regular collections of green wheelie bins will stop for the winter break in the middle of December
Green garden waste collections
Regular collections of green wheelie bins stop temporarily for two months during the winter because less garden waste is generated at this time of year.
The last collection of green garden waste is in weeks commencing 9 December and 16 December 2013, depending on which week the fortnightly collection falls in.
Regular collections will restart on 3 March 2014.
Residents who need their green bins emptied in the meantime can book an extra collection in one of these two weeks:
• Week commencing 13 January
• Week commencing 10 February
To book a collection during either of these weeks call (020) 8215 3000. The cut off date for bookings is 10 January and 7 February.
Garden waste can also be disposed of at Frizlands Reuse and Recycling Centre, Rainham Road North, Dagenham, which is open all year. You can also find information and advice on home composting at www.recycleforyourcommunity.com or http://www.lbbd.gov.uk/environment/recyclingandrefuse/pages/composting.aspx

Christmas recycling advice
Real Christmas trees will be taken away for recycling by refuse crews during weeks commencing 13 January and 10 February. Put the tree next to your bins on your normal collection date, remembering to remove all decorations.
Wrapping paper cannot be placed in the brown wheelie bin because the paper is too low quality to be recycled. This should be put in your grey wheelie bin.
Glass bottles and jars should be put in the grey wheelie bin. It is separated from the rest of the rubbish by a machine and recycled. If you have excess glass that won’t fit in your grey bin and you don’t want to store it until next week you can take it to Frizlands Reuse and Recycling Centre located in Rainham Road North, Dagenham, or to your nearest street bottle bank.
Cllr Bert Collins, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: "I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the residents of Barking and Dagenham for taking the time to recycle their rubbish throughout the year. Also, many thanks to our refuse crews for their hard work come rain or shine."
