This team is also part of the Barking and Dagenham Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. It works with children and young people (5 - 16) experiencing emotional or mental health difficulties and their families.
Requests for help (referrals) are accepted from other professionals already working with children and families in health, education (including schools) and Adult and Community Services. People are normally seen within 13 weeks of referral.
The primary mental health workers come from a variety of professional backgrounds including social work and nursing. They can help with:
- Improving relationships in or outside the family
- Coming to terms with bereavement, loss, separation and divorce
- Family changes
- Managing behaviour or feelings
- Coping with aspects of school life
