The Residents Urban Design Forum generally only consider one scheme at the Residents Urban Design Forum meetings, which the Council seeks to schedule on a monthly basis.
The Residents Urban Design Forum meet during the evening (6.30pm – 8.00pm) in the second week of the month.
Workshop Briefing
Prior to the main design review, the Council run a workshop with the Residents Urban Design Forum Members to review the proposed development and answer any questions the residents may have.
Residents Urban Design Forum Design Review
The Residents Urban Design Forum Members meet in the evening during the week to review schemes.
The Residents Urban Design Forum Supporting Officer provides assistance to the members of the Residents Urban Design Forum and attends both the workshop and review meeting.
The review meetings take between 1.5hrs – 2hrs depending on the complexity of the scheme and the issues raised.
Format of the Residents Urban Design Forum Review Meeting
Scheme promoters (client and design team) are given the opportunity to present the project at the Residents Urban Design Forum Review meeting. The period of time available for the presentation is 15 – 20 minutes.
The review starts with a presentation of the proposed project usually by an architect or planning consultant. The schemes promoter(s) should talk through the main design issues.

Post review
The Residents Urban Design Forum Support Officer finalises a written Design Review Report with the residents and the Residents Urban Design Forum Chair.
A concise Residents Urban Design Forum Review Report is given to the people responsible for the project within 10 working days of the meeting. The schemes proponents are asked to provide a response on how the points raised will be addressed.
Transparency
In the case of formal planning applications the contents of the Residents Urban Design Forum Review Report will be conveyed to the Development Control Board through the planning Case Officers Report on the proposal.
The Residents Urban Design Forum Review Report for proposals which are within the statutory planning system as planning applications will be published on the Council’s planning website. The Council will not publish comments on preliminary schemes unless prior agreement is sought from the schemes proponents.
