Admissions to schools

Introduction

If you would like to apply for a school place for your child (aged between 4 and 16), the Admissions Team will process your application. The forms you complete will depend on your child's date of birth and when you apply.

Moving from Primary to Secondary school 2015

Moving from Primary to Secondary school 2015
If your child was born between 1 September 2003 and 31 August 2004, you must apply on-line now for a secondary school place for your child.  This move is not an automatic move, and you will need to apply for a place at the schools you would like your child to go to.  The closing date is midnight 31 October 2014. The admissions process and criteria are listed in the booklet ‘Moving to secondary school in 2015’.  Please make sure you read and understand the information in this booklet before you apply.  If you don’t follow the process in the booklet, you put your chance of getting a place at your preferred school at risk.

Important note:
If you apply online and you cannot see your exact address in the list presented, or the schools you want to apply for are not listed, you must contact the School Admissions Team by 5pm on 31 October 2014 or your application will be late.

Starting School 2015

Starting School 2015 (reception classes)
If your child was born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011 they will be starting school full-time in September 2015.  The admissions process will start on 3 November 2014.  School places are not offered based on who applies first, therefore please wait until November to apply for a school place.  Full information needed to make your application including new schools will be available in November and the closing date will be 15 January 2015.

If your child needs a reception place now, please follow the ‘In-year’ admissions process below.

Moving from infant to junior school 2015

If your child is a year 2 pupil and attending an infant school you will need to apply for your child's year 3 junior school place.  However, if you want your child to transfer to their linked junior school, we will automatically make this application on your behalf. For infant and junior schools outside the borough, please contact the school or relevant local authority about their admissions procedure.

The full process will be available from 3 November and will be set out in the Moving to Junior School 2015 booklet. The closing date for all applications for all boroughs is 15 January 2015. If your child needs a year 2 place now, please follow the ‘In-year’ admissions process below.
