Admissions to schools

Introduction

If you would like to apply for a school place for your child (aged between 4 and 16), the Admissions Team will process your application. The forms you complete will depend on your child's date of birth and when you apply.

Starting School 2015

Starting School 2015 (reception classes)
If your child was born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011 they may start school full-time in September 2015.   This move is not an automatic process and you must apply online for a place at the schools you would like your child to go to.

Moving from Primary to Secondary school 2015

Moving from Primary to Secondary school 2015
If your child was born between 1 September 2003 and 31 August 2004 they will be moving to a secondary school in September 2015. This move is not an automatic process and you will need to apply for a place at the schools you would like your child to go to. The closing date was 31 October 2014. All applications we receive now are late and must apply using the common application form provided by the borough where you and your child live. Barking and Dagenham residents should download or pick up and return our common application form from either of our one-stop shops in Barking or Dagenham.

Moving from infant to junior school 2015

If your child is a year 2 pupil and attending an infant school an application must be made for your child's year 3 place junior school place (even if you want a place at your linked junior school).

Linked Barking & Dagenham junior schools
If you want your child to attend their link Barking & Dagenham junior school, you do not need to fill in an application form, as we will do this on your behalf (even if you live outside the borough).  If you would prefer your child to go to another school you must then fill in the JCAF - Junior common application form.

Junior schools outside the borough
For infant and junior schools outside the borough, please contact the school or relevant local authority about their admissions procedure. If they confirm you need to apply through your home local authority (us) you will need to fill in and send us the JCAF.

Junior applications from children not in infant schools
If your child is at any other type of school and you would like to apply for a year 3 place at a Junior school (for September 2015 start) you will also have to fill in a JCAF.

Important information
• If your child needs a year 2 place now, please follow the ‘In-year’ admissions process.
