Responses were received to the consultation that took place in early 2008 with regards to the polling station review conducted in accordance with the Electoral Administration Act 2006. This places a duty on the Council to undertake reviews every 4 years of all polling places.
The details of the existing arrangements for polling places, together with the representations for change were submitted to the Executive on 30 September 2008, who taking into account officer comments in relation to the proposed changes agreed the final arrangements for polling places in Barking and Dagenham on the basis of the proposals set out in the following web pages.

Please note the following in relation to:
- Abbey ward. Officers are continuing to review available locations within the AB polling district to address the impending demolition of the Boat House in Barking Park which will include if necessary arranging temporary provision for the next election(s), in other words a portacabin
- River ward. Further consideration is being given to seeking an alternative location for RB polling station currently located in the church alongside RA
- Thames ward. Further consideration will be given to alternative locations for polling stations as the new developments emerge on Barking Riverside
Alibon, Goresbrook and Thames wards have been restructured and either internal boundaries or new polling districts within each ward have been created.
