Town Twinning

Schemes Involving Professionals

Professionals have also worked together on projects where exchange of information could be of mutual benefit, for example urban regeneration schemes and social projects.

The borough is currently working with health organisations to encourage recruitment of German doctors in the borough as we have a shortage of general practitioners and Germany has a large number of unemployed doctors, many of whom seek to work overseas.

In July 2005 Barking and Dagenham co-hosted, with Sanofi Aventis, an Anglo German Medical Conference for German doctors practising or considering practising in the UK.

This project is a clear demonstration of twinnings' practical importance in the 21st century.
