Town Twinning

Development in the 1970s and 1980s

In the 1970s, Kingsley Hall sought help from us to arrange programmes for visiting groups and in 1979 we decided to make the link official and signed a twinning treaty with Witten Council.

During the 1980s, the popularity of the youth exchange diminished as overseas travel became more common and many schools organised their own trips abroad, or youngsters travelled on holiday with their parents, often to more exotic destinations than Witten.
