Town Twinning

Activities

The twinning link started to expand beyond the youth exchange and to encompass more like-minded groups of people, such as:

Musicians
Sportsmen
Professional people

The focus of the twinning link changed from simply aiming to overcome prejudice and suspicion, to encouraging friendship between groups and involving as many members of the community as possible.

'Fun' elements of the twinning link include:

Exchange visits by musicians, sportsmen and women, fishermen, police, lifesavers and firemen
Another highlight of the twinning year is a visit to Witten's Onion Festival, which includes onion beer, the election of an onion queen, and onion relay race and a tug-of-onions
