This enamelled links on the chain symbolise, from left to right:
Wangey House stood at Chadwell Heath and was demolished to make way for the widening of Chadwell Heath Station.
In 1616 Nathanael Henshawe held Valence.
John Henry Merttins resided at Valence House until his death in 1776. He was buried in a family vault at Dagenham.
Edward Osborne acquired Parsloes in 1583 when he was Lord Mayor.
Valence House - the earliest tenant of whom we have record, was Marjery de Moese, sometime wife of Thomas Weylond, who sub-let the manor to Agnes de Valence about the end of the 13th century.
The blue and white line represent the Thames at Dagenham Breach, the fish representing the Lucy family.
The Oak Tree represents the Fairlop Oak.
