Youth Forum

What the Forum has achieved

Since it began in October 2001, Youth Forum members have gained many personal benefits, such as feeling that you are making a difference, meeting new people, making friends, learning new skills and having fun.

In addition to the above, other key achievements of the 2006/2007 Forum have included:

The Crime and Safety subgroup received The Princess Diana Anti Bullying Award for their contributions to tackle bullying by making an anti bullying DVD and designing an anti bullying poster
The equalities sub group held and equalities event at The Vibe Youth Centre where young people were given the opportunity to experience different cultures in a variety of ways and were able to participate in workshops focusing on disability and sexuality awareness
The Youth Facilities sub group produced an information booklet called 'access all areas' which is aimed at young people. It gives details on all the facilities that are available to them in the borough under the topics of health, sports, nightlife, youth clubs, information and advice and personal safety. It has been distributed to all the secondary schools in the borough
Holding a question and answer session with Jon Cruddas MP at the Houses of Parliament where many issues affecting young people in Barking and Dagenham were raised and debated
