Everyone who is of voting age must register with their local council.
If you live in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and you qualify as a voter you must go on the electoral register managed by our Electoral Services.
Everyone who is eligible to vote must be put on the annual canvass form that is sent to each household in the Autumn of each year.
By law, you must fill in and send back the annual canvass form, even if you are already registered or there is no one eligible to be registered.
You can use the About my vote website or you can request a copy of the application form from us by telephone, email or by post.
This should be completed and returned to our Electoral Services office at the address shown.
There are no amendments made during September, October or November during the annual canvass period when all households have to register. A revised register was published on 1 December 2009.
We will also notify the Electoral Registration Officer for your old address that you have moved, so that your name can be removed from that register. People who live between 2 homes (including students) are allowed to register at both.
If you do not want your name to be removed from your other address, please explain why on your form.
