This is our preferred method of payment as it saves you and the council time and cost when making a payment.
Once the direct debit has been set up, there is no action to be taken on your part, as payments are automatically debited from your bank or building society account.
If the amount of the instalment changes, (for example in the new financial year) you will be automatically notified of the change.
Please note: Direct debits cannot be made from certain types of account, for example, savings account. Please check with your bank if you are unsure.
If you would like to pay be direct debit you can download a Direct Debit Instruction Form
PDF 108K
To view
PDF files requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software.
You can also request a form by contacting the Rent Section at the address shown.
Direct debits can be taken 2 weekly or 4 weekly. From the 1 October 2004 you can pay calendar monthly on 1, 8, 15 or 22 of each month. You should check to make sure you have the correct amount of money in your account to cover the payment at this date.
Please remember that it takes time for us to set up your direct debit. You should continue to pay your council tax until we send you a notification letter.
