Business Rates
The administration and collection of Business Rates is carried out by the council's Business Rates team.
The team is led by the Business Rates Manager and is made up of 5 full-time staff.
The team is based at 90 Stour Road Dagenham, and deals with over 4,200 businesses.
In 2007-2008, they are responsible for collecting nearly £47.8 million of business rates for Central Government.
What does the service cost?
For non-domestic property the council receives a government grant to cover the cost of collecting rates. In 2007-2008, the council will receive approximately £216,000 to be spent on the administration and collection of Business Rates.

Telephones
We aim to answer your telephone enquiries within 5 rings. We receive most of our calls early in the morning and at these peak times our lines are often engaged, which can be frustrating. If you are able to ring later in the day, this could be an easier way to resolve your enquiry.
Letters
We aim to answer your written enquiries within 10 working days. If this is not possible, we will acknowledge your letter, and give you a deadline by which we will send you a full reply.
Visitors
If you wish to visit us to resolve an enquiry, please call into the council's offices at 90 Stour Road, Dagenham.
The offices are open to the public from 8.30am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.
It is not necessary to make an appointment, and we aim to deal with your enquiry within 5 minutes of your arrival.
