This review took place between August 2004 and March 2005 and was carried at by a group of 5 members and an external representative.
The Scrutiny Panel examined the way that we market and manage our own vacant shops and is able to influence the provision of private shops in the borough.
Our overall objective of letting Council and privately owned commercial properties is to obtain not only the best commercial advantage but also the best environmental, wider regeneration and social advantage to the local community.
The Panel raised a number of key points for a more holistic approach to the marketing and management of Council owned shops to help meet the needs of local communities and in doing so to influence the provision of private shops in the borough.
