We work hard and cooperate closely with other organisations throughout London to make sure that there is effective risk identification and sound planning.
We develop business continuity plans so that all the services provided to the community can continue, even if there are disruptions to our working practices, making sure that the borough is resilient to any emergency is a top priority.
To build a coordinated response to any emergency and to make sure the Council is prepared for any emergency, the council works with other responding agencies.
This includes the blue light services, but the council has a close support and mutual aid agreement with the 4 other boroughs grouped together in the north east London area. These other local authorities are Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest.
All boroughs within London meet regularly to help coordinate planning. Some agencies are there to help this process like the London Resilience Team and London Fire Brigade - Emergency Planning.
To help develop a good local response it is important that the council has a good working relationship with local groups and businesses, neighbourhood management and religious communities.
