'To provide and promote quality opportunities for the community to participate in sport and physical activities to encourage healthy lifestyles'.
Government Strategy Document 2000.
'The role of Sports Development work in areas is of the greatest importance - to promote, develop and manage opportunities for people in their local communities'.
A key role of our work is community development through sport and we strive to continue our work in partnership with other relevant agencies to deliver our service.
This includes organisations like the Sports Leaders UK and Sports Coach UK with whom we run the Sports Leader Awards and Good Practice and Child Protection awards to the community in Barking and Dagenham.
We continue to provide support to local sports clubs regarding topical issues and will continue to sit on the local Sports Council in an advisory role.
A major part of the our work is to keep the community for which we work informed of the work that we are doing for their benefit. There are a number of ways in which we achieve this.
