Coach Development and Education is a key role in the work of the Sports Development Unit.
The work leads to various partnerships being formed to deliver National Governing Body Awards, Sports Leader Awards and other nationally recognised qualifications.
It is therefore essential that coach development continues to play an important part in the development of community sporting opportunities within the borough.
Continuing to offer coach development and education will enable the Sports Development Unit to provide more opportunities for people to take part in organised sport.
It also provides training to individuals from the community to be able to go back to their communities and pass over the new skills that have been learnt.
This is especially true in the minority ethnic communities who the unit has been able to provide coaching courses in exercise to music and the Junior team Managers Award for football.
For up to date information on our current coach development and education programme, please contact the Sports Development Unit at the address shown.
The officers in the Sports Development Unit also take part in a programme of self development which enables us to keep up to date with current issues in sports development which will keep Barking and Dagenham on the map.
