Active fitness

Our aerobics programme includes traditional aerobics classes as well as water-based classes and body training sessions. To learn more about our membership schemes and what would be most suitable for you, please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help.

Body pump

Body pump is a non-impact (doesn't involve a lot of strain on your joints) resistance-training workout that uses barbells and adjustable weights. The class will tone and condition your body and can help you to lose weight.

Body step

The traditional step aerobics class has been improved. The routines are simple enough for men and women of all ages and abilities. You can control how hard you work by raising or lowering the level of the step.

Body balance

This class combines Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates with new dynamic exercises. It is designed to help you reduce stress and pain, and help you live more healthily.

Legs, bums and tums

With no complicated moves and routines, this mostly involves toning work which concentrates on the lower half of the body.

Hi-low aerobic mix

This class burns off calories with low impact and high-impact moves and so is good for losing weight.

Yoga

This offers another approach to using exercise to improve the mind, body and spirit. Yoga helps to improve posture, flexibility and breathing, and releases stress and tension.

Body blitz

This class targets specific areas using toning exercises and aerobic work to shift those extra pounds and keep your heart healthy.

Aqua aerobics

The resistance of the water helps to strengthen your heart and lungs as well as toning your muscles. The class is set to music to make it fun and the water protects your joints and muscles from injury.

Boxercise

A workout using gloves and pads based on traditional martial arts moves and ideas.

Yogalates

An active training class for the mind and body that leaves you feeling relaxed and revitalised. Yogalates is a selection of the best bits of yoga and pilates. Concentration, focused breathing with stretches and set poses create a whole workout for your body as well as toning.

Body attack

A 45-60 minute workout using high-intensity exercise. This workout is ideal for anyone who is already fairly fit. It is challenging both physically and mentally, and is simple yet effective.

Aerobic circuit

This workout is designed to increase fitness levels by using various pieces of equipment for that all-over body workout, combining aerobic training with weight training.

Fitball

Using a gym ball and music for motivation. This class is an all-over body workout, plus it will also improve those who would like to target hips, tums and thighs. Ideal for toning and shaping the body. This class will give all who try it a fun workout!

Elderberries

These sessions are for customers who are aged 50 and over. Warm up with a stretch-and-tone session. You can then use the rest of the session to take part in a number of different activities including badminton, squash, weight training, circuit-training and swimming.

You can choose to take part in 1 or all of the activities as they are designed for all levels of ability and experience. You need to have a 'gym induction' session on your first visit.
