Abbey Sports Centre

Fitness studio

Description and costs for fitness programmes.

Group induction

A maximum of 3 people are shown how to use the fitness studio equipment safely, after filling in a health questionnaire. These are at set times (maximum 1 hour).

Flexible induction

A maximum of 3 people are shown how to use the fitness studio equipment safely after filling in a health questionnaire. These can be arranged at a suitable time for the customer(s) (maximum 1 hour).

Fitness assessment

This assessment involves testing: strength, flexibility, stamina, lung function and blood pressure (maximum 1 hour).

Health check

These checks involved testing: blood cholesterol, blood glucose, blood pressure, body fat and lung function. Appropriate advice will be given according to results (maximum 1 hour).

Personal programme

After a blood pressure check, an exercise regime is designed to meet the needs of the customer, and recorded on a programme card for the customer to follow. Exercise techniques from the programme are then demonstrated in the fitness studio (maximum 1 hour).

Personal training

The purpose of these gym or studio based exercise sessions is to focus and motivate customers. The individualised supervision will boost confidence through improved fitness knowledge.

These sessions will encourage consistency and help to attain personal goals in the shortest possible time. These sessions can be done one to one or with a maximum of 2 friends or family.

Weight management

These sessions are similar to the personal training sessions but with more emphasis on nutrition.

We understand that everyone is a little different both in ability and needs. Our comprehensive Fitness Studio Programme offers something for everyone.

Induction courses

Before using the Fitness Studio, an induction course must be taken. This session consists of up to an hours instruction with one of our fully trained instructors.

You will be taught how to use each piece of equipment safely and offered advice on suitable training methods.

Induction courses must be booked and paid for in advance.

Following your induction you will be issued with a Users Card. This must be produced on every occasion you wish to use the Fitness Studio. Failure to do so will result in admission being refused.

Additional induction courses may run during peak seasons. Please enquire at Reception.
