20/20/20: 12pm - 1pm

 

Saturday

Body step: 9.30am - 10.30am

Body pump: 10.30am - 11.30am

 

Sunday

Body attack: 10.30am - 11.30am

Body balance: 11.30am - 12.30pm

 

Class descriptions

 

Our aerobics programme includes traditional aerobics classes as well as water-based classes and body training sessions.

 

Body balance

This class combines Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates with new dynamic exercises. It is designed to help you reduce stress, pain and help you live more healthily.

 

Shape and tone

This class targets specific areas using toning exercises and aerobic work to shift those extra pounds and keep your heart healthy.

 

Body basics

With no complicated moves and routines, this mostly involves toning work which concentrates on the lower half of the body.

 

Aqua aerobics

The resistance of the water helps to strengthen your heart and lungs as well as toning your muscles. The class is set to music to make it fun and the water protects your joints and muscles against injury.

 

Yoga

Yoga offers an alternative approach to using exercise to improve the mind, body and spirit. Yoga helps to improve posture, flexibility and breathing, and releases stress and tension.

 

Hi-low aerobics mix

This class is designed to burn off those calories using low impact moves alongside more traditional moves.

 

A great fat burner and not really suitable for those exercising for the first time.

 

Body pump

This dynamic class moves the gym into the studio. Body pump is a non-impact, resistance training workout that uses barbells and adjustable weight.

 

The class will tone and condition your body, can help you to lose weight, and ultimately change the shape of your body, all in record time.

 

Body step

The traditional step class has been refreshed. We now have Body step which in the ultimate step workout, and the world's fastest way to tone butts and thighs.

 

Activities are simple enough for men and women of all ages and fitness abilities. You can control how hard you work by increasing or decreasing the level of your step and or the range of movement.

 

Set to exciting and inspirational music body step really is an enjoyable way to get fit.

 

Boxing circuit

This workout is ideal for anyone who is already fit. It is challenging both physically and mentally.

 

Starting exercise

With the exception of the advanced classes, all classes are suitable for both beginners and the more experienced participants, but if you new to exercise it is always best to check with your GP before starting any new activity.

 

Similarly if you have any medical conditions, recent injuries, or if you are pregnant please inform the instructor before the class starts. This will enable the instructor to offer alternative exercises appropriate to your activity level.

 

What to wear

Loose clothing such as a T-shirt and shorts or tracksuit bottom. Please ensure that you wear training shoes that are appropriate for activity that you are participating in.

 

Your instructors

Every instructor at Abbey Sports Centre is fully qualified, holding a Royal Society of Arts Exercise to Music Certificate or equivalent.

 

Some of the instructors have further specialist qualifications such as Pre and Post Natal, and Older Pensions.

 

Instructors also undergo regular training sessions to ensure that the standard of instruction remains at a high standard.

 

If you have a special condition that you are concerned about, please ask either the staff at Abbey sports Centre, or your instructor who will refer you to an appropriate instructor.
