Road Safety

Pre-School Children - Ages 1-4

Protect your child on the road

Small children can not cope with traffic on their own. Your child should always be accompanied by you or another responsible adult.

When you go out with your child, make sure they walk on the inside of the pavement, keeping tight hold of their hand. It is a good idea to talk to your child about the importance of stopping at the kerb and looking and listening.

Be seen

Make it easy for other road users to see you and your child. In daylight, wear or carry something that is light, bright or fluorescent.

Accidents are more likely to occur at night time, so when it is dark, use reflective materials like special armbands of sashes which can be seen by drivers using headlights.
