As part of their duties the 3 Abandoned Vehicle Enforcement Officers inspect 'nuisance' vehicles that are reported to them by the public, or that they come across on their daily patrols. If a vehicle is found to be untaxed it is their responsibility to seek authority from the DVLA to have the vehicle removed or alternatively report it for prosecution.
Tackling untaxed vehicles was part of 'operation scrap it' which was a year long scheme run by the Association of London Government which ended in September 2005. We have decided to continue this scheme to at least the end of March 2006.
