Surrendered Vehicle Scheme
Has your vehicle failed its MOT? Is too old to repair? Or just not wanted anymore? Then we will remove and dispose of it free of charge as long as the vehicle is located in the borough. The registered owner will need to complete the necessary forms.
What we will do:
- We will send you an application to surrender a vehicle within 24 hours of us receiving your request
- We will inform the DVLA when the car has been disposed of
- We will ensure our website is up to date so you can download the application form on line
- We will ensure that if you contact us we respond to you within our Council's customer service standards
What we would ask of you:
- Please contact us at Barking and Dagenham Direct to remove your car, rather than abandoning it
- Please ensure that the vehicle can be accessed at all times, e.g. not in a garage or locked area
- Please make sure that all personal belongings are removed at the time the application form is submitted
- If your vehicle is on the highway it is your responsibility to ensure that it is has tax, mot and insurance until such time that the vehicle is removed
