You can recycle all types of paper, food and drinks cans and plastic bottles in the orange sacks. Collections are made on the same day as the normal rubbish collection. Orange sacks for your recyclables are delivered free of charge on a quarterly basis.
A roll containing 26 orange bags will still be delivered to each household every 3 months as they are at the moment. Deliveries will be made in January, April, July, and October. This works out at 2 bags per week.
If this is not enough and the bags run out, residents can pick up extra bags from local libraries, Dagenham Civic Centre, Dagenham One Stop Shop at 90 Stour Road, or Barking Learning Centre, opposite the Town Hall.
Previously visitors have been able to take as many orange bags as they want. Unfortunately this has led to some people taking bags for reasons other than recycling. There have also been people from other boroughs taking the bags.
Replacement bags will still be free but residents will now have to show proof of address before getting their roll. This could be in the form of a driver's licence, council tax bill or utility bill. They will also be restricted to one roll per customer, per visit.
If you run out of collection sacks before the next delivery, you can either ask the collection crews for some more, collect them from the venues listed or contact the recycling centre at the address shown.
There are 16 collection points to pick up orange recycling bags.
