Parking

Barking and Dagenham

The streets in Barking and Dagenham are getting busier and we have a responsibility to make decisions about where people park.

We provide a service to all residents, businesses and visitors, which include those that drive, walk, cycle and those using public transport.

It is our objective is to ensure our limited parking places and facilities are shared fairly and made available to those that need them, as well as ensuring road safety is given greatest consideration at all times.

We have a responsibility to enforce parking regulations and we use Civil Enforcement Officers (Parking Attendants) and CCTV cameras for this purpose, which involves the issuing of penalty charge notices (also known as parking tickets) to vehicles that illegally park or violate traffic offences.

We are also responsible for operating Council car parks, issuing parking permits and dispensations, suspending parking places, maintaining traffic flow in bus lanes, enforcing certain traffic violations, such as banned turns, no entry points and one way directional signs.
