Car parks

As well as surface car parks, we operate 2 town centre multi-storey car parks, in Barking (London Road) and Dagenham (Heathway).

It is necessary to purchase a pay and display ticket when parking in any of the council-owned car parks.

Drivers are advised to ensure they have enough change for their pay and display ticket before parking and to ensure their vehicle is parked wholly within the parking place markings.

If a vehicle is left unattended, with no obvious signs of a parking ticket having been purchased or displayed on the windscreen, or if the ticket is showing as being after its expiry time, the vehicle may be issued with a penalty charge notice.

Disabled badge parking in car parks

There is free parking for a limited time period in designated disabled badge holder parking places within Council car parks. Badge holders should check time plates and information signs indicating any time restrictions on their stay.

Drivers using car park facilities with a disabled badge must ensure they display a time clock disc to indicate their arrival time.

Faulty pay and display machines

If a pay and display machine is showing as being 'out-of-order' or faulty, a note will be placed on the machine indicating where the nearest machine is located.

Drivers must use an alternative machine to purchase a pay and display ticket. An alternative machine is usually located a short distance away.

Electric vehicle charging points (or pods)

The parking spaces in the London Road Multi-Storey car park, near the exit, are solely for electric vehicles.

When charging up, drivers can get free parking and won't have to pay for the electricity. The car's owner will be able to get a tag that allows entry to the pod and a lead they can hook up to their vehicle.

Car parks in the borough

Council car parks are closed on Sundays and bank holidays, or such special occasions as we may determine.

The following new charges applied from 1 April 2010. However, existing charges are displayed throughout car park locations.
