Be a friend of your local park

Are you one of our regular park users of maybe an occasional park stroller?.

You probably know your local park inside out, and are in touch with its comings and goings and fully understand how it functions?.

You may have opinions about what works well and what could be done better, you may have even put forward suggestions to us on how it might be improved.

We need your help

We are looking to set up Friends of Parks Groups in all our local parks throughout the borough.

Want to be involved in improving your local park?
Want to make your local park feel safer?
Want to have a say in the future development of your local park?

Then this is the opportunity you have been waiting for.

What are the benefits of a Friends Group?

To ensure that the views of local people and users of the area are taken into account by us when decisions are made about our management and development of parks
Many grant giving bodies insist on community involvement; some funding is only available to community groups themselves
Making improvements to a space that meets the needs of the community, together with communities getting involved as volunteers lead to an increased sense of 'ownership'. The result of this can be a decrease in vandalism and an increase in levels of use and community safety

Everyone is welcome and if you are interested and you want to make a difference, talk it over with your family and neighbours and contact Peter London at the address shown.

He will arrange a time and place where you can meet and get all that are interested together to make a start and hopefully some new friends.
