Stonewall is the national organisation representing lesbians, gay men and bisexuals.
Stonewall is a member of the Equality and Diversity Forum, a network of national organisations committed to progress on age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, and sexual orientation issues.
We have joined the Stonewall Diversity Champion programme.
The Stonewall Diversity Champions programme is Britain's good practice forum in which employers can work with Stonewall, and each other, to promote lesbian, gay and bisexual equality in the workplace.
As Diversity Champions, the Council has access to best practice sharing, networking opportunities, and research from the Diversity Champions, Diversity Champions Cymru and Diversity Champions Scotland programmes.
The Stonewall Workplace Equality Index is the national benchmark for employers on lesbian, gay and bi-sexual issues and highlights best practice.
The Index is published annually and employers are assessed against 25 detailed 'questions', as well as staff's response to the Stonewall confidential employee questionnaire.
This is the first year that the Council has joined the Index and we were rated 112th out of 314 entries, (up from 240 entrants in 2008), with a higher than the benchmark score for authorities.
