Age Concern is the UK's largest organisation working with and for older people.

 

The services

They provide Active Age Services for people over the age of 55, at 10 centres in the borough of Barking and Dagenham.

 

Meals/refreshments

Meals and refreshments are provided at reasonable cost and special dietary needs can be catered for.

 

Membership criteria

Members attending active age centres must have a certain level of ability e.g. be able to carry their own dinner/drinks and attend to their own personal needs. There are specialised day services available for those people unable to do this.

 

Transport

Age Concern Barking and Dagenham does not supply transport to and from active age centres, however centre managers are able to assist member with the booking of external transport agencies if necessary. Alternatively please see Community Transport.

 

Activities

They provide a variety of activities across the centres aimed at promoting socialisation and healthy ageing e.g. bowls, line dancing, tai chi, yoga, keep fit, alternative therapies and computers.
