What's happening and what you need to do

We sent out forms to all existing freedom pass holders to renew their pass in the new photo-card format from the middle of December onwards. An information leaflet and covering letter was included to ensure you know what to do next.

The renewal process started from Monday 11 January 2010 onwards.

Where and when to renew your pass|

You will need to attend the centres in alphabetical order of your surname; this will help us to manage the process in the best possible way and keep any queues to a minimum. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated on this.

When you receive your form, all you need to do is:

  1. Provide one new passport photograph (we have installed photo booths at the Barking Learning Centre and at Stour Road for your convenience)
  2. Provide recent proof of address (i.e. utility bill, bank statement, benefit letter, or official letter, this must be dated within the last 3 months)
  3. If you do not provide proof of your address or a passport photograph we will not be able to process your application, so please remember to bring this information with you to one of the centres
  4. Important - Please do not attach your photo to the form; this will be completed by our staff at the centres

You will then be sent your new freedom pass through the post well before your old one expires. In the meantime you can continue using your existing pass until the new one arrives.

When you receive your new pass you can start using it straight away, but you must destroy the old one first.

If you have any queries regarding this information please do not hesitate to contact us on the numbers quoted on the information sheet. Thank you for your attention.

When will I receive my new pass?

We are currently experiencing a high volume of enquiries from customers who have applied for their new pass, but have not yet received their new one.

Please note that due to the high volume of applications across London there will be a delay but your new pass will arrive before your existing pass expires. Your existing pass remains valid until 31 March 2010 and you can continue using until your new one arrives.
