Fair access to care

What are community care services?

Community care services help people to remain safe and independent in their own homes. The services are designed for the long term or to meet short-term needs (for example, while a person is recovering from ill health).

Services to meet short-term needs (such as the need to regain abilities, skills and confidence after an illness or accident) are often referred to as 'intermediate care'.
