We take all child-protection issues seriously. You can speak to a Referral Officer in the Assessment Team. Their number is shown in contacts.
It is important to remember that we need clear evidence before we can take action. It may be that we do not have enough evidence or the evidence does not show that a child has suffered or is at risk of significant harm. If you are concerned, please speak to the social worker involved in the case.
Referrals from members of the public are anonymous. Referrals from professionals and other agencies are not generally anonymous. Some child-protection investigations end up in court. We cannot guarantee that we will not release names in these cases.
Only professionals such as colleagues in health, police and education can ask whether a child's name is on the register by contacting the Custodian of the Register for Barking and Dagenham at the number shown. The child protection register is not a public document and is highly confidential.
