Tenant Participation

The Tenant Participation Team works with local people to promote resident involvement and ensure that they have the opportunity to influence the way services are designed and delivered.

The team provides support to our existing tenants' and residents' groups and supports the establishment of new groups. They also support the six Community Housing Partnerships and run a variety of events and consultation meetings throughout the year.

Getting Involved

We have several ways for residents to have their say or influence decisions on the management of their homes.

Residents can take part in the following ways:

The borough has a number of Tenants' and Residents' Associations and Community Groups.

Tenants' and Residents' Associations

These are made up of tenants and residents who form a committee in a specific area. They deal with any local issues and monitor local services.

Estate Representatives

These are people who represent residents in their area where there are no tenants' and residents' associations.

Quarterly Action Groups (QUAGS)

These are informal groups who meet us every three or six months to discuss local issues of concern.

Steering groups

These are groups of tenants and residents who work to become a recognised Tenants' and Residents' Association.

The Tenants' Federation

This is made up of two representatives from each Tenants' and Residents' Association, members from each steering group and estate representatives. The Federation is the 'umbrella' group for the various tenants' groups in the borough.

Community Housing Partnerships

Community Housing Partnerships give council tenants, leaseholders and other people interested in council housing the opportunity to work together to improve the lives of local residents.

Borough Wide Community Engagement and Consultation

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham are committed to continually improving our services and have developed various ways to engage with local residents and consult with you on topics affecting the community as a whole.

If you are interested in having your say about the wider decisions of the council there are many ways to Get Involved.
