Housing Regeneration

Regeneration in the borough

Our borough is at the heart of the governments plan for Thames Gateway which puts us in a prime position of make positive changes that revitalise our borough.

Regeneration projects are important tools where there are areas in the borough that may be experiencing an unfortunate mix that includes high unemployment and crime and low incomes and educational achievement.

Housing regeneration

For these areas to prosper we need to remove barriers and offer communities a pleasant and safe place to live and work.

Housing regeneration is just one part of a borough wide initiative that includes strategic areas of the London Riverside and Barking Town Centre.

All areas of regeneration are working towards the same goal of making sure we have a strong Sustainable Communities Plan.

New developments will offer a better choice of different types of accommodation.

Delivering our community priorities

Housing regeneration allows us to deliver our community priorities.

Equality and diversity for all through regeneration

Equality and diversity is promoted in all our housing regeneration projects. We appreciate the needs of different groups in our communities including black and minority ethnic, older people, young people and key workers in all new housing provision.

Housing is a long term investment for our partners and our community. We intend to make sure all new developments are environmentally friendly and help sustain a good living environment with high design standards.
