Choosing a reliable builder can be a risky business. There are many builders working locally and some are bound to be better than others.
We are unable to recommend individual builders but we have produced a list of builders who have agreed to abide by a Code of Conduct and other Conditions including the need to register with Constructionline, a government-sponsored organisation which maintains quality checks on thousands of building contractors.
Although membership of this scheme still does not guarantee the quality of any work carried out, it should help reassure you in making your choice.
If you are looking for a small builder or the work involves just a single trade, you might wish to check whether the company is a member of the relevant trade organisation.
