We only use properties that meet the high standards we demand and where the occupant is able and happy to maintain those standards. It is our aim to move qualifying tenants into Council accommodation within 6-12 months.
The agents are required to carry out regular inspections to ensure continued use by the occupant and that good working order is maintained.
During some of these inspections Council staff from the Private Sector Housing Team and the Temporary Accommodation Team will accompany the agents to make sure all properties meet all basic requirements.
Yes. We only use Managing Agents and do not accept or manage properties ourselves.
For information about the Managing Agents, please visit the Private Sector Agreement web page or contact the Procurement Manager at the address shown.
No, once the property is leased to an agent and sublet to us, we reserve all rights to choose the occupants.
We monitor the service received from the agents. However, you do have the legal right to terminate your agreement with your agent and offer your property to one of the others should you wish. We are happy to note any concerns that you have with any of our agents.
We pay each agent a set fee. You would have to decide whether what you are being offered is suitable for the service they are offering you.
We will use the property for an unspecified period of time.
We do not have a specific time scale for sub leasing the properties, the procedure is that the landlord enters into an agreement with the agent which may be for a year or longer, although we lease the property from the agent for an undefined period.
