Community Housing Partnerships
Council tenants now have a bigger say on the way that their homes are managed. Community Housing Partnerships were set up by councillors and introduced in October 2002 and the first meetings were held in March 2003.
Through a partnership of tenants, leaseholders, freeholders and councillors, Community Housing Partnership boards have the power to:
- Make changes and improvements to their quality of life
- Monitor housing-related services
- Make decisions on local priorities and service levels for:
- Community safety budget
- Estate Management
- Environmental Improvements
- Estate Regeneration
- Major refurbishment within approved local budgets
- Monitoring Repairs Service
There are 6 Community Housing Partnerships, 5 consisting of 6 councillors, 5 tenants, 1 leaseholder, 1 freeholder and 2 independent, and 1 Community Housing Partnership board which consists of 4 councillors, 3 tenants, 1 leaseholder, 1 freeholder and 2 independent who meet every 2 months.
The Boards are:
- Eastbrook, Heath and Alibon
- Abbey, Gascoigne and Thames
- Wellgate (Whalebone and Chadwell Heath)
- Eastbury, Longbridge and Mayesbrook
- Parsloes, Becontree and Valence
- Dagenham Gateway (River, Village and Goresbrook)
