Equalities Impact Assessments

Regeneration and Environment

Our duty

The Race Relations (Amendment) Act places a statutory general duty on local authorities to promote race equality. This means we must 'have due regard to the need' to:

Because we want to ensure that all members of the community are treated with respect and experience fair and equal treatment we include in the above the areas of race, ethnic origin, gender, age, disability, sexuality, faith/religion and any other area that may prevent equality of opportunity.

Our strategy

Our strategy to meet our specific duty is our Race Equality Scheme.

Our Race Equality Scheme is a detailed plan that assesses the relevance of all our policies, services and procedures for any race equality impact together with looking at other areas, as mentioned above.

The reports below show the key actions that the department will undertake to make sure that our services benefit the whole community regardless of age, disability, race, ethnic origin, gender, sexuality or faith/religion.
