Purpose of Service
- Maximising opportunities for tenant involvement in planning, development, management and monitoring of Landlord Services, as reflected in the Tenant Participation Compact
- Build tenant capacity for meaningful involvement
- Promote equal opportunities in all aspects of the service
- Organises training to help maximise capacity for tenants involvement
- Recruits, encourages and supports tenant and resident membership of Community Housing Partnerships specially ensuring tenants reflect the various parts of our community
- Ensure Community Housing Partnerships are seen as relevant to tenants of the borough through publicity, encouraging attendance
Policies
In broad terms practices and policies can be grouped into the following headings:
- Support to and capacity building for Tenants Groups
- Recognition for Tenants Groups
- Issuing of consultation guidelines
- Tenant Participation Compact
- Equal opportunities guidance and training
- Engagement with 'hard to hear' groups
- Publicity
- To ensure tenant make up of Community Housing Partnership Boards reflects the tenant demography
- To encourage wider tenant/community involvement in Community Housing Partnership Boards
All these practices and policies have an impact on equal opportunities and have equal opportunities mainstreamed.
Recommendations
On completion of the impact assessments the Participation team will continue to work with all the groups to ensure they fully participate in decision making.
The groups will be surveyed again in 6 months to assess their progress around the issues raised.
