This report shows the process and the results of the impact assessment carried out on the Sheltered Housing Service.
Sheltered housing is accommodation specially designed for people over 60 or younger if you are registered disabled or in receipt of disability allowance.
This impact assessment reviews how well this service meets the needs of black and minority ethnic groups. It also reviews the methods by which applicants access the service to ensure this does not adversely affect application from black and minority ethnic groups.
We have concluded that in the main there are no adverse effects of current policies and protocols on black and minority ethnic groups even though a number of recommendations have been reached as a result of this exercise.
The recommendations should prepare the service to develop a more diversified profile to encourage use and participation from black and minority ethnic residents within the borough.
