Homelessness Strategy
PDF 23K
The homelessness strategy, which was produced in 2003, provides details on how we will prevent homelessness and support those who become homeless.
The strategy will help to shape and develop services for people who are homeless and those in need of housing advice in the borough.
In light of the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000, an equalities impact assessment was carried out to uncover gaps in provision for black and minority ethnic communities within the homelessness service and to ensure that services are non-discriminatory.
The following impacts have been identified and details of these are set out in the body of the report:
It is proposed that the outcome of the assessment will inform the ongoing review of the homelessness strategy. This report explains the approach the department will take to address the gaps in services.
Based on the findings of the impact assessment, please note the report and action plan together with steps to be taken as commitments to be delivered by the department.
